Gascon Recall Effort Had Good Winning Chance: Poll

L.A. County District Attorney George Gascon faced a recall petition over what critics considered progressive policies that resulted in too few arrests, more crime.

  • Recall campaign would have started off with a 41% to 20% lead countywide, per new UC Berkeley Institute for Governmental Studies poll.
  • Still, poll showed 39% of voters undecided on the recall, so outcome would have been far from certain.

  • Effort failed just weeks after San Francisco resident ousted progressive District Attorney Chesa Boudin in a ballot initiative.
