- The National Trust for Local News acknowledges receiving funding from Soros’ organization but refutes claims that Open Society Foundations specifically funded the purchase of these local newspapers.
- Semafor.com, however, reported that Soros and Wyss did provide financial contributions to enable the National Trust to acquire the newspapers, with these donations having not been previously disclosed.
