Rep. Chip Roy (R‑TX) on Monday issued a stark warning on social media, claiming that Europe has “fallen to Sharia law adherents who invaded through mass migration without assimilation.”
In his post, Roy urged Americans to resist similar trends in the United States, framing the issue as a battle to “save Western civilization.” The congressman’s remarks reflect a growing theme among some conservative lawmakers who argue that immigration policies in Europe have eroded cultural cohesion.
Roy’s post came in direct response to a new poll reported by Breitbart showing that seven in ten French voters support banning Islamic veils in public. The survey highlights mounting tensions in France over religious expression and integration, with the veil debate serving as a flashpoint in broader disputes about national identity and secularism.
His warning also coincides with legislative efforts in Washington. A Republican measure in Congress, called the “No Sharia Act,” would bar U.S. courts from enforcing any judgment or arbitration based on Sharia law or other foreign systems deemed incompatible with constitutional rights.
Roy suggested that mass migration without assimilation has allowed extremist ideologies to take root overseas, and cautioned that the U.S. must act decisively to prevent comparable outcomes. Roy’s post comes amid ongoing debates in Washington over border security, refugee admissions, and the role of cultural assimilation in immigration policy.
