New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu has insisted for months that President Joe Biden won’t be the Democrat presidential nominee.
Appearing at the Politico-CNN grill on Thursday at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Sununu, a Republican, basked in his “I told you so” moment.
According to reports Thursday, top Democrats are saying that the growing pressure from congressional leaders and close friends will convince Biden to drop his reelection bid, potentially as soon as this weekend.
“I’ve been saying this for well over a year. It’s real. It’s happening,” said Sununu, who appeared virtually at the RNC since he is not attending the convention.
Sununu said he had personally noticed Biden’s decline during his presidency and that the president would whisper things that did not make sense.
“Running for president is not what this gentleman should be doing right now,” Sununu said. “There’s a responsibility of the family to give good advice, and I just don’t think they’ve been giving him some very good advice. So he’s got a legacy decision to make.
