Hawaiian Surf Champ With Rare Heart Defect Dies Wave Riding

The 24-year-old Kalani David died Saturday in Costa Rica after having a seizure while in the ocean.

  • David was advised not surf or drive after suffering a seizures.
  • The surfer  had Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.
  • David’s first seizure was in 2016.
  • World Surf League champion Kelly Slater reportedly paid his respects on social media and shared a picture of David.
