Homeless NHL Team Now Playing In 5,000-Seat College ‘Mullett’ Arena

  • The Coyotes could be in the college arena for as long as three years.
  • The Winnipeg Jets’ Blake Wheeler when asked whether playing in front of 5,000 spectators reminded him of playing in college, he replied, “I played in front of 10(,000).”
  • “As long as you’ve got a spot to put your gear on and talk about the game, I mean, it really is a beautiful college hockey rink,” Wheeler also said. “I’ve played in way worse arenas for sure.”
  • Coyotes were forced to leave what was Gila River Arena in Glendale in August, after city officials informed the team it would opt out of its joint lease agreement for the facility, essentially forcing the Coyotes to leave.
