House Advances Two Funding Bills Ahead Of Shutdown Deadline

The House on Wednesday night passed two more government funding bills, which will fund the departments of State and Treasury through September, as Congress races to pass its appropriation bills before the January 30 deadline.

The lower chamber passed the funding package, which will also keep the IRS, the judiciary and the Federal Trade Commission funded through the end of the current fiscal year, in a bipartisan 341-79 split.

The House has now passed eight of its 12 appropriation bills. The chamber passed a similar package to fund four departments last week, which the Senate is expected to vote on this week.

All 12 appropriation bills have already passed the House Appropriations Committee.
