- McMaster made the comment Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation, after the raid last month of Trump’s Florida estate in which FBI agents allegedly seized classified materials, which has also raised question about whether the former president safety secured the material – classified, or declassified.
- “There were systems in place,” McMaster said. “I don’t know what happened to those systems, but I was never uncomfortable with it while I was there. While I was there, I did not see any problems in handling of classified information.”

McMaster is a retired lieutenant general who served in the administration from February 2017 to the spring 2018.
- The raid followed a back-and-forth between Trump lawyers and the Justice Department which Trump White House documents had to go to National Archives.
