In A First, Israeli Athlete To Compete In Saudi Arabia

  • Shachar Sagiv, an Olympic triathlete, is set to become the first Israeli to compete in Saudi Arabia on Saturday in the fifth. round of the Super League Triathlon.
  • Saudi Arabia generally does not allow Israelis to enter the country, but recently has begun issuing special visas to Israeli citizens, primarily business people.
  • “I am very excited to be a trailblazer by being the first Israeli athlete to compete in Saudi Arabia,” Sagiv told the website Sport1. “This is proof that sports connect peoples and countries.”
