The inaugural Florida Man games were held this weekend in the city of St. Augustine.

The “games” are a spoof on some of the outlandish – and criminal – acts that some male Florida residents are notorious for doing including brawling and drinking.

Contestants came from throughout Florida to compete in tank tops and cutoff shorts in such events as wrestling over beer and trying to outrun a real sheriff.

The one-day event was promoted as “the most insane athletic showdown on Earth.”

James Gordon of DeLand won the first event, eating a plate full of barbecue pork and sausage a fraction of a second faster than his closest competitor.

DeLand then chugged a beer in victory.
