Instagram Restricts Ye’s Account After Backlash Over Alleged Antisemitic Post
Instagram has deleted the controversial post Friday by rapper Kanye “Ye” West and has put a restriction on his account, with the social media site citing a violation of platform policies.

- The restrictions on posting, commenting and messaging are temporary and standard practice for accounts that regularly violate the social media platform’s policies, said a spokesperson for Meta, Instagram and Facebook’s parent company.
- West made the now-deleted post late last week that a screenshot of a message, allegedly sent to fellow rapper Diddy, that had been criticized as antisemitic by Jewish advocacy groups like the American Jewish Committee.
- After being restricted on Instagram, West tweeted a message that appeared put the blame on Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for the Instagram restriction.
- The Instagram posts follows West early last week sparking controversy for wearing a “White Lives Matter” t-shirt.
- In March, Instagram deleted content from West’s account and suspended it for 24 hours for violations of platform policies.
