- Deaths from COVID-19 in the U.S. have plunged over the past week – falling 20% to 426 per day after surging at the start of the month.
- Daily infections are dropping as well, with official numbers falling 8% over the past week to 128,785 per day.
- The new variant is the most transmissible version of the virus yet and the CDC reports that it makes up nearly 80% of active cases.
