Dress Code Gate Just Won't End! Dems Squabble, Bikini Threat, Name Calling

- Since a news report this past weekend said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer decided to ease the chamber’s already unofficial dress code the response and member bickering has been nearly nonstop – and arguable as robust as that surrounding a possible government shutdown.
- Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, the Senate’s No. 2 Democrats, doesn’t like the change, which has allowed Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman, a fellow Democrat, to wear a hoodie and shorts on the chamber floor.
- Fetterman, in the middle of debate, referred to House Republicans appearing to try to force a government shutdown over spending as “jagoffs.”
- Maine GOP Sen. Susan Collins said jokingly that she’s wear a bikini to the Senate floor, in response to the dress code change.
