Jay Cutler’s DUI Arrest Captured In Newly Released Police Body Cam Footage

Newly released police body camera footage has shed light on the October 2024 arrest of former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, who was taken into custody in Franklin, Tennessee, for driving under the influence.

The video, made public Thursday, shows Cutler refusing to perform field sobriety tests. Officers on the scene reported a strong odor of alcohol and observed signs of impairment, including slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.

The footage begins with officers responding to what initially appeared to be a routine fender bender. Cutler, 42, calmly handed over his identification and denied drinking before eventually admitting to having “a little bit.”

Cutler pleaded guilty to the DUI and was sentenced to four days in jail, a $350 fine, one year of supervised probation, and mandatory DUI safety classes. He served two and a half days before being released and had his Tennessee driver’s license revoked for 12 months.

Cutler played 12 seasons in the NFL, primarily as the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears. Drafted 11th overall by the Denver Broncos in 2006, Cutler spent three seasons in Denver before being traded to Chicago in 2009.

Known for his strong arm and aggressive play style, he led the Bears to the NFC Championship Game in 2010 and became the franchise’s all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns. Despite flashes of brilliance, his career was marked by inconsistency and injuries.
