Jewish Professor Barred From USC Campus Over Hamas Comments Allowed To Return

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JANUARY 27: NYPD officers drag a demonstrator off an NYPD car as people protest the death of Tyre Nichols on January 27, 2023 in New York City. The release of a video depicting the fatal beating of Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man, sparked protests in NYC and other cities throughout the country. Nichols was violently beaten for three minutes and killed by Memphis police officers earlier this month after a traffic stop. Five Black Memphis Police officers have been fired after an internal investigation found them to be “directly responsible” for the beating and have been charged with “second-degree murder, aggravated assault, two charges of aggravated kidnapping, two charges of official misconduct and one charge of official oppression.” (Photo by Michael M. • The University of Southern California is allowing the Jewish professor barred from its campus over comments about Hamas to return amid the school’s ongoing investigation into the matter.
  • The professor, John Strauss, made the comments during a Nov. 9 student protest.
  • Over 7,000 people have signed an online petition calling for USC to terminate Strauss, while nearly 21,000 have signed on calling to reinstate Strauss, who made the comments days after Hamas’ deadly terror attack on Israel, which almost immediately declared war on the militant group.
