President Biden appeared to admit Tuesday that his son Hunter lied about his drug use to buy a gun — a federal felony — by pointing to the first son’s memoir, which describes his roaring crack cocaine addiction at the time.
In the president’s first public comments since the Washington Post reported last week that investigators believe there’s enough evidence to charge Hunter, 52, with both tax fraud and lying on the gun purchase form, Biden told CNN’s Jake Tapper that his son now is “on the straight and narrow.”
“Well, first of all, I’m proud of my son,” said Biden, whose involvement in his son’s overseas work will be a top focus of Republicans if they retake Congress in the Nov. 8 midterm elections.
