Joe Biden’s Energy Secretary Met With China-Linked Group Calling For Ban On Gas Stoves

Government watchdog says ‘Where there’s smoke, there’s fire’

  • Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm had a private meeting with the head of the Rocky Mountain Institute, the group that funded a recent study used to justify the proposed gas stove ban.
  • Granholm’s internal agency calendar obtained by Americans for Public Trust, a government watchdog group, showed that in June 2021, the secretary met with Jules Kortenhorst — the CEO of RMI at the time.
  • The Biden administration has called the push to ban gas stoves “ridiculous” but, as APT executive director Caitlin Sutherland said, “Suffice it to say, ‘ridiculous’ and ‘not true’ proposals don’t ordinarily involve a meeting with the Secretary of Energy — and where there’s smoke, there’s fire.”
