- A new report published by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) found that in 2022, the number of journalist killings rose by 50 percent.
- Around the world, at least 67 media workers were killed, with at least 41 in direct connection to their work.
- More than half of the journalists were killed in Mexico, Haiti, or Ukraine.
- “Despite countries across Latin America being nominally at peace,” the CPJ said, “the region surpassed the high number of journalists killed in the Ukraine war.”
