• Joy Behar took a moment on Tuesday to “whitesplain” racism to two prominent black conservatives – Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.).
• Behar, who is white, made the comments during ABC’s midday broadcast of “The View,” and she argued that neither Thomas nor Scott – who had just announced his 2024 presidential campaign a day earlier – truly knew what it was like to be a black man in the United States of America.
• “[Tim Scott] is one of these guys who — you know, he’s like Clarence Thomas — a black Republican who believes in pulling yourself by your bootstraps rather than, to me, understanding the systemic racism that African Americans face in this country and other minorities.”
