A New York state judge has issued a temporary injunction preventing New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) from transferring asylum-seekers to a neighboring county amidst the city’s efforts to handle an influx of migrants.

New York Supreme Court Judge Sandra Sciortino’s ruling on Tuesday permits the asylum-seekers already relocated to the Crossroads Hotel and Ramada by Wyndham in the town of Newburgh, Orange County, to remain there. However, it prohibits the city government from sending any additional migrants to that location.

The case was filed by Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus and county Department of Social Services Commissioner Darcie Miller, seeking to halt the city’s ongoing transportation of migrants.
