Kansas Bans Gender Changes On Birth Certificates

  • This practice had previously been allowed for individuals who sought to update their gender designation to align with their gender identity. The health department, in compliance with the legal outcome, has stated on its official website that, “in accordance with Senate Bill (SB) 180, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is no longer authorized to process amendments related to gender identity on birth certificates.”
