The Labor Department has announced that three McDonald’s franchise operators, Bauer Food LLC, Archways Richwood LLC, and Bell Restaurant Group I LLC, are facing over $212,000 in fines for illegally employing hundreds of children, some as young as 10 years old.
The franchisees own and operate 62 McDonald’s locations in Kentucky, Indiana, Maryland and Ohio.
After an investigation by the department’s Wage and Hour Division, it was found that over 300 children were working longer hours than allowed by law and performing tasks that are prohibited for young workers.
