Wesleyan University has pledged to cover the expenses for students seeking abortion or Plan B contraceptive, regardless of their insurance status.

The liberal arts institution in Connecticut made the announcement last week after facing pressure from its Young Democratic Socialists of America chapter. In addition to paying for the medical procedures, the university has committed to covering transportation costs for students seeking abortions.

“Consistent with the health center’s mission to provide education and support in the decision-making process, students will be able to access emergency contraceptives by consulting with a nurse at Davison Health Center,” the university told NBC Connecticut in a statement.
