Former North Carolina Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn pleaded guilty on Friday to carrying a loaded handgun through a Transportation Security Administration checkpoint at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport last year.
Cawthorn, who was scheduled to begin his trial on Friday, pleaded guilty to a third-degree misdemeanor charge of possessing a dangerous weapon on city property.
As per his attorney, Missy Owen, he was fined $250 and will not be placed on probation and his firearm will be returned to him.
