- A poll found that 52 percent of Americans believe that the 87,000 new Internal Revenue Service agents will target lower- and middle-class citizens and small businesses rather than the wealthy or corporations.
- Congress this month voted to spend $80 billion beefing up the IRS as part of the “Inflation Reduction Act.”
- President Biden has said that people making less than $400,000 will not be targeted for audits, but clearly this is another subject on which Americans don’t believe Biden.
