Maryland Governor Wes Moore posed for photos at a Washington Commanders football game on Sunday with a man who has described himself as “Antifa.”
The photos surfaced as Moore attended the Commanders game in Landover, MD, where he met with several military veterans in recognition of Veterans Day. The governor’s appearance was part of a broader effort to highlight Maryland’s commitment to service members.
The man in question is Russell Ellis, better known online as “Jolly Good Ginger.” A North Carolina–born Army veteran turned social media activist, Ellis has built a large following by denouncing President Donald Trump and his supporters.
During an anti‑Trump rally in Washington, D.C., on September 19, Ellis proclaimed “I’m Antifa” in direct response to President Trump’s push to designate the movement a terrorist organization.
“First of all, I’m Antifa,” Ellis said to the crowd. “Are you guys Antifa? Because if you’re looking for Antifa, I’m here. But this idea that it’s an organized organization that’s conducting terrorist activities — this is as made up as Donald Trump’s business successes.”
Moore also appeared in several social media videos posted by Ellis during the Commanders game, clips that quickly circulated among Ellis’s millions of followers on TikTok and Instagram.
