Massachusetts Rep. Christopher Flanagan is accused of stealing from a Cape Cod trade group and using it to fund personal and political expenses in a multi-faceted scheme, officials said Friday.
Christopher Flanagan, 37, of Dennis, who represents the First Barnstable District, was indicted on five counts of wire fraud and one count of falsification of records. Flanagan was arrested Friday and is scheduled to appear in federal court in Boston at 2:30 p.m.
Flanagan allegedly stole tens of thousands of dollars from the Home Builders Association of Cape Cod to pay off outstanding credit card debt and missing mortgage payments, buy luxury items and bankroll his political campaign.
