- Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Sunday blamed Congress for not doing more to help with with record migrant at U.S. borders and said the Biden administration is doing the best it can within a “broken immigration system.”
- Mayorkas made comments on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” and repeated his argument the entire Western hemisphere is challenged by “unprecedented” migration – the highest level since World War II.
He said Congress has been “slow to act” on President Biden’s “Day 1” immigration reform legislation.“We have got to fix it,” Mayorkas said. “We need legislative reform.”
