According to the Washington Free Beacon, Republican Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy of California prevented an anti-Israel event featuring Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan from taking place at the U.S. Capitol Wednesday.
The event, titled “Nakba 75 and the Palestinian People,” aimed to label Israel’s 75th anniversary of independence a “catastrophe” and accuse the Jewish state of committing human rights abuses against Palestinians.
McCarthy announced late Tuesday evening that he would not be allowing the event to take place.
