McCarthy Loses 10th Round, Talliers Take Off Your Socks

Republican Congressman Kevin McCarthy has failed in 10 round of House voting to get enough votes to become speaker.

  • McCarthy failing in just the first round hasn’t happened in 100 years.
  • The California Republican, and the GOP House leader in the last Congress, cannot get a majority of votes to become speaker.
  • The magic number of votes in now at about 217, and McCarthy continue to get about 200 to 202 on each round.
