- Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said Sunday that 2024 GOP presidential candidates will have to sign a pledge expressing support for the party’s eventual nominee if they want to participate in primary debates.
- McDaniel made the statement on CNN days after announcing the first such debate will be in Milwaukee in August 2023 during the RNC’s annual summer meetings.
We haven’t put the criteria out but I expect a pledge will be part of it,” she said. “It was part of 2016, I think it’s kind of a no-brainer, right?
Former President Donald Trump, former Republican South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy have already begun campaigning for the Republican presidential nomination.
