- Meta announced tighter privacy settings on Facebook to protect kids and teens from unwanted contact with predators.
- The privacy updates will be included in the default settings for new Facebook users under 16 (or under 18 in certain countries), while existing users will be encouraged to adopt the new changes.
- The announcement comes as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children announced that reports of online enticement – including sextortion – increased by 265 percent from 2018 to 2021.
