- Kimberley Zapata, deputy director of the Milwaukee Elections Commission, admitted to requesting and sending three military ballots to state Rep. Janel Brandtjen, R-Menomonee Falls.
- Zapata doesn’t deny that she did that, but apparently she was trying to point out an abuse of military ballots.
- “It’s my belief that she was pointing out that you can go onto the public system, make up a person and request a ballot,” said Elections Commission director Claire Woodall-Vogg.
- Nevertheless, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson on Thursday fired Zapata, who is expected to face charges.
