Mississippi Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson is projected to win his primary election, according to The Associated Press on Tuesday.
Thompson, who is the longest-serving current member of Congress and the Mississippi delegation’s lone Democrat, faced two primary challengers in his race for an 18th term. He is projected to win with 84.6% of the vote, with 23% of the votes tallied.
Mississippi GOP Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith has been projected to win her primary election.
The race was called with 3% of the votes tallied, as Hyde-Smith received 83% of the vote compared to her challenger’s, Sarah Adlakha, 17%.
The projected winner of the Mississippi Senate Democratic primary is Scott Colom, with 67.8% of the vote and 20% of the votes tallied.
