- The mother, Deja Taylor was charged with possessing a controlled substance while armed and lying on a federal background check.
- Taylor had already been charged in state court in April with felony child neglect and failure to secure her firearm.
- Her son on Jan pulled a gun from his backpack while in class, then fired a bullet at his teacher that struck her in the hand and chest.
