During Monday’s broadcast of “The ReidOut” on MSNBC, host Joy Reid unintentionally uttered an expletive on a hot mic. The incident occurred as Reid criticized congressional Republicans for opposing President Joe Biden’s legislative accomplishments while later claiming credit for the benefits their states receive. She then shifted to discussing immigration talks in the Senate, specifically addressing negotiations on a bipartisan deal tying border policy changes to funding for Ukraine, which former President Donald Trump is attempting to undermine.
As the host aired snippets of Biden’s speech on Saturday in Columbia, South Carolina, expressing readiness to take action on the border issue, Reid, seemingly unaware that her microphone was still active, commented with an expletive.
“Starting another [expletive] war,” Reid said.
Her microphone was promptly muted, and she returned to the air a moment later.
“Still trying to kill the deal,” Reid added, presumably referring to Trump. “He bragged about blocking progress and said, ‘Please, please, blame him if it fails.'”
Later in the show, Reid issued an apology to viewers. “Before we go, I just want to apologize very quickly,” she said. “I was chatting during a clip that was playing, and you know, we try to keep this show very PG-13, so I just want to apologize to anyone who was listening to my ‘behind the scenes’ chatter. I deeply, deeply apologize for that.”
