- Amanda Hess, critic-at-large for The New York Times, called on readers to not engage with the publication and stand in solidarity with the more than one thousand union staffers striking on Thursday.
- “We’re asking readers to not engage in any @nytimes platforms tomorrow and stand with us on the digital picket line! Read local news. Listen to public radio. Make something from a cookbook. Break your Wordle streak,” Hess tweeted.
- The planned walkout comes after the Times and the NewsGuild, a union representing staffers, did not reach an agreement on numerous issues, including wages.
