Norfolk Southern Train Derails In Alabama Hours Before CEO Testifies In Congress

  • Another Norfolk Southern train has derailed in Calhoun County, Alabama, with no reports of hazardous materials, occurring shortly before a Congressional hearing on a similar derailment in Ohio.
  • The train, consisting of about 30 cars, derailed just before 8 a.m. EST on Thursday, just two hours before Norfolk Southern leaders appeared before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee to testify on the train derailment that occurred in East Palestine, Ohio.
  • There is no danger to the public and no injuries have been reported, according to the Quad Cities Fire Department and Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency via ABC 33/40 News.
