NYC Sends First Bus Of Migrants To The Suburbs

New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ administration sent a bus filled with asylum-seekers to a town located north of the city on Thursday, which marked the first time the city sent migrants to the suburbs due to pressures on its own social safety net.

City Hall reported that a few dozen asylum-seekers were put on a coach headed for a hotel in Orange Lake, a community situated in Orange County, with a population of about 10,000, located roughly 70 miles north of the city.

On Thursday, Adams stated during an unrelated press briefing that “We are coordinating, explaining to our colleagues in the state that this is a statewide issue.”
