NYPD Erecting Barricades Around Manhattan Courthouse, City Preps For Trump Indictment

  • New York Police Department officers on Monday began erecting barriers around a lower Manhattan courthouse for the possibility that former President Trump will soon arrive in response to being indicted for a crime and perhaps his supporter protesting, as Trump has urged them to do.
  • Trump said over the weekend he expects to be indicted Tuesday in connection with him having paid former porn actress Stormy Daniels about an affair that Trump denies.
  • If Trump is indicted the criminal case would be first against a U.S. president.
  • Trump’s calls for protests have raised concerns for law enforcement that supporters might engage in violence similar to what occurred at the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.
