October Surprise: NC Court To Address Voter ID, Election Map

- The North Carolina Supreme Court is set to hear arguments on the state’s voter ID law on Oct. 3, followed by arguments Oct. 4 on the state’s congressional map.
- In a party-line vote, the court voted 4-3, with all four Democrats in favor, to expedite the cases, while the court’s three Republicans urged waiting until after the election so as not to confuse voters so close to the election.
- Republicans in the state have charged that Democrat Attorney John Stein has not mounted a vigorous of the voter ID law, which the NAACP and other groups are challenging.
