Off The Press | Today’s News Minute March 1, 2023 – Lightfoot Loses!

In a closely watched election, Lori Lightfoot last night became the first Chicago mayor to lose reelection in decades. Most blame high crime, gun violence and a tin ear for her loss. No Democrat won outright, however, setting up a primary runoff.

First the Department of Energy, now the FBI is blaming a Wuhan, China lab leak for the spread of COVID-19. The FBI director confirmed the leak which is the focus of a Republican House investigation.

In Los Angeles, officials have agreed to pay the family of Lakers great Kobe Bryant $29 million for leaking out pictures of the helicopter crash that killed him and his daughter almost two years ago.

And in the entertainment world, country star Blake Shelton is leaving the Voice. Considered one of the busiest stars in the industry, Blake said that it’s time to do nothing for a while.
