Old Navy Follows Nordstrom In Closing Up Shop In Downtown San Francisco

  • An Old Navy store in downtown San Francisco will close this summer, parent company Gap Inc. said Friday
  • A company spokesperson said the Old Navy store on Market Street will close July 1 once its lease expires.
  • The company also said the decision was made after an evaluation of its real estate portfolio and to “ensure … the best possible experience for our customers.”
  • Other businesses in the city have also closed amid ongoing problems with homelessness, drug addiction and crime, including shoplifting.
  • Nordstrom is closing two of its downtown San Francisco stores, citing the “dynamics” of the downtown market.
  • GAP Inc. said it is exploring new downtown locations for Old Navy.
