- GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin lost his bid to become New York governor but over-performed so much that his stock within the party has risen.
- Zeldin has some backers within the House Republican Conference for the post of Republican National Committee chairperson, but no known big names.
- Ronna McDaniel was handpicked by former President Trump to lead the RNC, but Trump has since been critical of her, and the 2022 Red Wave that never materialized has also hurt her standing.
- McDaniel, nevertheless, has support from 101 of the 168 RNC delegates to remain as leader.
