- A tropical storm will soon form between Africa and the Lesser Antilles, and it’s likely to become a hurricane by this weekend as we near the peak of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season.
- Right now, it’s a swirl of low pressure almost halfway between Africa and the Lesser Antilles in the central Atlantic as marked by the red area in the map below.
- The disturbance has been tagged as Invest 95L by the National Hurricane Center (NHC). This is a naming convention used by the NHC to track disturbances in the Atlantic that have some chance to form into a tropical depression or storm.
Watch a major hurricane develop this week!
Hurricane Lee will be a monstrous storm perhaps Category 4 or 5 in the next 7-days as it [likely] travels safely north of the Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico.
