- According to the Washington Free Beacon, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was on vacation in popular and posh tourist destination Porto, Portugal in late August, while tense negotiations almost resulted in a rail strike.
- A Department Of Transportation spokeswoman called the jaunt a “long-planned personal trip,” telling the Free Beacon Buttigieg “remained available and engaged” from the confines of his luxury vacation.
- “Pete Buttigieg will take paid vacation in Europe for days on end but doesn’t think rail workers should get more than one day of sick leave,” said Republican Senator Josh Hawley.
