• Republican Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker is asking taxpayers to foot a $139 million bill which would “expand emergency shelter capacity” for illegal aliens who arrive in the state.
• “…a recent uptick in new migrant arrivals, coupled with a strained housing market have led to a need for greater capacity across the system,” Baker said in a statement.
• Baker says the funds would add 1,300 housing units and an additional intake center for the illegal aliens, with $40 million of the money dedicated to resources that would help place them in the Massachusetts public school system.
