Republicans Edge Democrats in Favorability Survey

  • Counter to historical trends, a Gallup favorability survey recently found that Republicans now score higher than Democrats.
  • Forty-four percent of those surveyed reported having favorable views of the GOP, while 39 percent have favorable views of the Democratic Party.
  • This is the third time in the past 10 years that Republicans have received higher favorability ratings than Democrats.
  • Democrats’ favorability is at its lowest since 2015 and the new results are 12 percentage points lower than the historical average.
