Researchers Cast Doubt On Bats As COVID Source

Tel Aviv University researchers say bats have highly-effective immune system allowing them to deal relatively easily with viruses considered lethal for other mammals

  • The early explanation from China on how COVID-19 was contracted by a human and spread to others was it occurred through a person having bought a bat at an exotic food market in city of Wuhan.
  • Review of dozens of studies on alleged ties between bats and viruses including SARS-CoV-2 has found no “sufficient compelling scientific proof” that the flying mammals are responsible for the emergence of COVID-19 in humans, say Tel Aviv University researchers in Israel.
  • Study was published in the journal Science and states it’s a mistake to equate “possession of antibodies” with serving as ongoing carriers of the disease that caused them.
