Robot Cop To Patrol New York’s Subways

- New York City Mayor Eric Adams reiterated his commitment to introducing more technology into the city’s police force on Friday. He unveiled an autonomous robot designed to patrol one of the busiest subway stations in the nation’s largest city.
- The robot, called K5 and developed by robotics company Knightscope, made a static appearance alongside Adams during a press conference held at the bustling transit hub beneath Times Square. The robot was adorned with NYPD colors, and its unblinking camera lens was directed at reporters and commuters.
- Adams emphasized the importance of the NYPD staying at the forefront of technological advancements and being ahead of those who may employ technology to harm the city’s residents. He stated, “The NYPD must be on the forefront of technology and be two steps ahead of those who are utilizing technology to hurt New Yorkers. And trust me. They are.”
